From June 4th to 7th 2023, Barcelona hosted the UITP Global Public Transport Summit, a worldwide event that, every other year, gathers the main stakeholders of the public transports ecosystem. Operators, Authorities, OEMs, software providers and all the other stakeholders of the indusry had the opportunity to meet and discuss in the frame of key notes, exhibitors’ booths or, simply, during coffee breaks.
This year, the summit programme and conferences were organized around the following 2 pillars:
1/ Cities : vision and means, way to net zero emissions, innovation and operational excellence
2/ People: social inclusion & diversity, customer centricity and happy staff
Be present at this event enabled us to discover a high standard local public transport network with complementary modes and operators, integrated within a mutualised fare system called IFS (“Integrated Fare System”) :
- TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) : most metro and bus lines, as well as a funicular line
- FGC (Ferrocaril de la Generalitat de Catalunya) : regional rail and metro lines, as well as funicular lines
- Renfe: regional rail lines and connexions with the rest of the country
- TRAM: tramway lines
Besides this, the event in itself has been an excellent opportunity to listen to and have conversations with profesionals with diverse backgrounds and share our respective visions and challenges related to Mobility.
We cannot wait the 2025 edition, planned to take place the city of Hamburg, Germany !
