On July 22nd and 23rd, Metrolys visited Netherlands in the frame of studies about customer experience in public transports, led by Nouvelle-Aquitaine Mobilités for the Modalis projects.

The OV-chipkaart (personal or anonymous), since more than 20 years and OVpay, since last year, enable mobility on all the Dutch public transport networks, whatever the operator, with one unique device. A customer oriented value proposition, making the experience accessible and very smooth. The recent introduction of OVpay demonstrates that Open Payment can work very well on open railways networks, with ad hoc communications to customers and staff.
A big thank you to Peter van Dijk and Marco Kartman for having hosted Metrolys and Nouvelle-Aquitaine Mobilités in the Translink premises in Amersfoort as well as to the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) colleagues who did the same at the Utrecht HQ.

Your return on experience and insights are very inspiring and will help the Modalis projects.

And, finally, a special mention to the NS train conductors I have interviewed on platforms or onboard and who, spontaneously and with enthusiasm, shared their field return on experience.
